We recognise that sometimes students and their families need a bit of extra help beyond school, which is why we partner with the agencies below to help our students thrive in and out of school. Click the link below to read more about each agency:

Support Group

Wellbeing and Health In-reach Nurse (WHIN) Coordinator

The Wellbeing and Health In-reach Nurse Coordinator program is a partnership between NSW Health and the NSW Department of Education.

 

The program establishes a Wellbeing Nurse position in selected metropolitan, regional and rural communities in NSW to work with identified secondary and primary schools. Wellbeing Nurses are employed by NSW Health and co-located in schools.  

 

The Wellbeing Nurse works closely with the school’s wellbeing and learning and support teams.

 

They also work closely with local health and social services to support students and their families on a wide range of health and wellbeing issues. 

Issues may include mental health, social and behavioural support, physical health, and peer or family relationships.

The role of the Wellbeing Nurse is to:

  • identify and address health and social needs of students and families

  • coordinate appropriate early intervention, assessments and referral of students and families to services and programs

  • contribute to care coordination and case management of students and families

  • build trusting relationships with students and families to identify and assess their health and social needs and address barriers to accessing services

  • support access to health promotion to improve health literacy and engagement of students and families

  • develop networks with health providers to build strong relationships and effective referral pathways.

WHIN

headspace

headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation providing early intervention mental health services to 12-25 year olds. headspace can help young people with mental health, physical health (including sexual health) alcohol and other drug services, and work and study support.

Through referral, our wellbeing team can help our students in need of mental health support access the services provided by headspace.

Wesley Youth Mission Accommodation

With services in Coffs Harbour, Bellingen and Nambucca region or in Sydney’s Inner West, Wesley Youth Mission Accommodation helps young people in need of a place to stay.

 

Wesley Youth Accommodation can help young people without a place to call home or are at risk of becoming homeless:

  • access safe and affordable accommodation

  • get support in mental health, addictions, family breakdown and/or financial stress

  • get a referral to appropriate services and advocate on their behalf

  • explore options for medium and long-term housing

  • develop a rental accommodation assistance plan

  • discuss and explore pathways to employment

  • access transportation.

 

Through referral, our wellbeing team can help our students in need access the services provided by Wesley Youth Mission Accommodation.

Wesley

The Buttery

The Buttery is a not-for-profit, charitable, community based organisation and specialises in the treatment of alcohol and other drug misuse and mental health issues. 

 

Their mission is to enrich people’s lives and connect communities through a continuum of support for people affected by substance use disorders, mental health issues and addiction.

Through referral, our wellbeing team can help our students in need access the services provided by The Buttery.

Buttery

STARTTS

STARTTS is the NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors. 

 

STARTTS is a specialist, not-for-profit organisation that was established in 1988.

 

It provides culturally relevant psychological treatment and support, and community interventions, to help people and communities heal the scars of torture and refugee trauma and rebuild their lives in Australia. 

STARTTS also fosters a positive recovery environment through the provision of training to services, advocacy and policy work.

 

Through referral, our wellbeing team can help our students in need access the services provided by STARTTS.

STARTTS

School Liaison Police

School Liaison Police are officers who work with high schools to reduce youth crime, violence and anti-social behaviour through a range of school intervention strategies, educational programs and local relationships which model respect and responsibility. 

 

SLPs are responsible for forging and maintaining links with all high schools throughout NSW. 

 

These officers develop and present programs in conjunction with teaching staff and act as a central point of contact on police, community and school issues. 

 

SLPs may provide information, support and guidance on security, intervention strategies and child protection matters relating to the school as well as other issues relating to safety and community responsibility.

Through referral, our wellbeing team can help our students in need access the services provided by our SLP, Senior Constable Snow.

SLP

PCYC Coffs Harbour

PCYC NSW is a charity empowering young people to survive, and thrive, in partnership with the Police and the community.

 

Here in Coffs Harbour the PCYC rose from the passion and dedication of our local community to sit in the centre of the Coffs Harbour.

 

They have a flair for the creative and performing arts with over 22 dance classes, as well as 12 different types of gym classes with various times, and a full commercial gym!

 

They are the home of Coffs Coast Judo, Community OOSH, and Activate Life, as well as being the main provider of Safer Drivers courses and the Traffic Offenders course in the local area.

 

Their team is lead by a passionate bunch - From our Police partnership, to our dedicated Volunteers, to our staff.
 

Through referral, our wellbeing team can help our students in need access the services provided by the PCYC.

PCYC

Key Employment

School is not for everyone, and Key Employment understands that. 

 

As such, they can help young people to get real life skills that give them a leg up in the work force. 

 

Key has its very own youth hub, with basketball and tennis courts, a kitchen, Netflix, washing facilities and so much more.  

 

Their other offices are training facilities too.  

 

As well as being in the classroom, young people get to be out and about, including gaining real skills in the workplace.
